Delete your account

1.In short

• In the app: More, Delete my account.
• On the website: sign in, open your name menu, My account, Delete my account.
• By email: write to [email protected] from the address on your account, or message us on WhatsApp +44 7343 126953.
• A staff account is deleted at once. A company owner's account is deleted within 30 days after we contact them, because closing a company needs an export of its books first.

2.In the app

Sign in, open More and tap Delete my account. Read what will be deleted, type the confirmation word and confirm. You are signed out of every device straight away.

3.On the website

Sign in at accounting.shihab.co.uk, open the menu with your name at the top, choose My account and then Delete my account. Confirm in the box that opens.

4.By email or WhatsApp

Write to [email protected] from the email address on your account, or message +44 7343 126953 on WhatsApp from the phone number on your account, and say you want to delete your account. We check that it is you, then delete it as described below.

5.What is deleted

• Your login: username, password and every sign-in on every device.
• Your name, email address and phone number. The name on your account becomes Deleted user, and your username and email address can be used again.
• Your push notification tokens, device registrations and till PIN.
• Your Ask Shihab conversations, and the voice recordings, photos and videos you sent in them that are not attached to a posted document.
• Your settings: notification choices, report shortcuts, guidance progress and any daily WhatsApp summary set up for you.

6.What the company keeps by law

Posted invoices, bills, journal entries and tax records belong to the company, not to you, and the law requires the company to keep them for the statutory retention period (15 years by default in Shihab Accounting). They stay with the company owner, and they are never edited or deleted when an account is deleted. Your name on them is replaced with Deleted user. The audit trail keeps what was done and when, linked to Deleted user and not to your name. Supplier invoice and receipt photos you sent to the purchases inbox also stay with the company, even if nobody has reviewed them yet.

7.How long it takes

• Staff and any other user who is not the only owner of a company: at once. You are signed out everywhere and your details are removed straight away.
• A company owner: the request is recorded at once and your account keeps working until the company is closed. We contact you, send you an export of the books, and delete the account within 30 days after we contact you.
• Email requests: we reply to confirm it is you, and then the same timing applies.

8.Company owners

Closing a company needs an export of its books first, so the only owner of a company cannot be deleted in one tap. You have two options:

• Hand the company to someone else: make another member an owner (Settings, Users). Your own account can then be deleted at once.
• Close the company: you can export your books from the website at any time. Once you have your export, we delete the company's data when you ask. If you do not ask, we keep it for the retention period your company sets, because the law asks businesses to keep their accounting records.
